Textual Analysis

The colours on this are mainly red and greens. This are steriotypical colours of Christmas to show its the December edition. Also by the use of a red ribbon going across the page which indicates "presents" for Christmas.

The masthead of the magazine "Student ID" uses the same font and style to make the reader understands it's brand identity. The heading is made out to be a stamp which is normally red to indicate crime which makes this magazine more exciting.

The images seem to suit the magazine colours and layout, for example the girls red hair in the photo. The images shown are of different events to show how much this magazine has to offer.

Comparing Student Magazines

I compared some 'amazing' student magazines and what features they do and dont have. There isn't a comparison website for student magazines so I put down what I thought about them.

Student ID - Includes TV shows that teenagers tend to watch such as Twillight and Trueblood. It also includes photos and articles about previous college events like the College Bash. It also uses bright fonts to get the readers attention.

Youth Action - Shows articles of teenagers achieving goals such as making charities, to show that they arn't your steriotypical teenager. Uses a specific colour co-ordination (white and orange). I have noticed this doesn't stand out as much as others.

Student ID (a different one) - This one is different to the other as it uses similar colours throughout the magazine. Again uses more photo's of students on college trips.

Action Plan, the greatest plan of them all.

It looks like I have been set a new task for media. Well challenge accepted!

Here is my plan of action:

Week 1:
Create Action Plan (Already done!).
Decide on name of magazine.
Set up blog (If you haven't noticed that has been dealt with).
Initial comparison of magazines.

Week 2:
Orginise photoshoot.
Create front cove and draft.
Textual analysis of magazines.

Week 3:
Get audience feedback.
Create contents and drafts.

Week 4:
Evaluation.
Audience questionaire.
